Carnegie Hall Concert 1 & 2: Premium Live Performance Recordings for Classical Music Enthusiasts & Home Theater Experiences

This is the Mastersound Gold CD. The sound quality seems very good and there is a bonus cut Margerine, that is not on the standard version of the CDs. The music is of course outstanding. The backing band includes a young Dave Samuels before he was famous for his work with Spyro Gyra and John Scofield on guitar. Mulligan and Baker always play well together and the CD combines the two separate vinyl records that made up this concert. A highlight is the debut of Song For Strayhorn, a song that Mulligan would feature over the years with his big band and small groups. The CBS mastersound series appears to have a mixed reputation amoung audiophiles, but I was satisified and pleased with the performance and sound.
