TL:DR - If I could give this rating a zero, I would. Lots of issues which are detailed below. Customer Service is not "in service for their customers"!Let me start by saying that after seeing the other (USB-A) version in a CNET post from CES a few yearsago, I was AMAZED by what they were planning. As usual it was a prototype and they were nowhere close to production of this useful item. In this era of IoT having an alarm clock that would be able to siphon power for my devices, and six of them at that seemed to good to be true, plus it tells you what the weather is supposed to be. It had some buttons that were not programmed at that time, but because it connects to the internet, firmware can be downloaded and installed. The problem is when you actually buy it and start using it. First and foremost, it has an alarm already set for you. The alarm is named Doppler System Alarm. You cannot delete this alarm. You cannot change the name of this alarm. Thankfully you can change the time, you can also toggle it "off" and you can change the sound that comes out. Personally I have four other alarms as I am a heavy sleeper and they are set for different purposes. I have my main alarm labelled "Week Wake" you can imagine this would be my main alarm that wakes me up every day at 7:22am (yes, I am weird, yes that is what it is set to). It is set to rainforest sounds (birds chirping and other crap) and it is set to not "ascend slowly" because by ascending in amplitude slowly, I get used to the sounds and I do not wake up when I should. If I wanted to naturally wake up I wouldnt set an alarm in the first place! The other alarms are for when I need to leave one is set M-Th another for Fri because I gotta be in a bit early.Either the last firmware update or the last app update severely screwed with my system. The company does not want to hear about it. In their minds, their device works perfectly (same delusions Steve Jobs had). The only way to get ahold of the company is through their Discord server which in and of itself is a bunch of BS. When trying to do so I got repeatedly blocked from what I was experiencing by them saying that the product works fine and that I am imagining things. Full disclosure: I ended up getting kicked from their server because I talk like a human being and they couldnt stand that I was hurting their feelings about their special device. They refused to admit that anything was wrong. In addition to that, they refused to do anything about my situation such as ship a new device out to me so that I could return the piece of crap I now have. Maybe that would have helped, maybe not, but either way at least it would show that the company fully stands by their products.Alas, the issues that I wish to warn you about:*Ascending Alarm this is a toggle that is on by default. If you are a heavy sleeper, you will want to shut toggle this off in the app so it rings at heavy volume. HOWEVER I have done this multiple times on multiple alarms and it keeps resetting to the on position. Which means I do not wake up when I am supposed to wake up, which is a major issue! I would imagine that their response "would be" you have to save the settings, but... yeah, thats what I have been doing... EVERY TIME!*Every alarm that you create has a main toggle to turn the alarm on or off. This is nice if Monday is a holiday and you dont need the alarms that day right? well, unless you toggle all the alarms off and they turn on anyways waking you from a slumber of which you stayed up late the night before and cannot get back to sleep now... OR the default alarm which randomly woke me up a couple weeks back on a Saturday morning. I havent turned it on in probably 7 or 8 months... wasnt expecting a rude wake up at 622am on a Saturday when no alarms are set! (By the way you cannot edit which days the default alarm is set for, it is auto set for every single day).*Alarms randomly turning on is bad... what is worse? Alarms randomly turning off! How do you explain to your boss that you are 2 hours late to work because an alarm clock that you set to the on position randomly turned off? This morning, my alarm barely came on, took me about 20 minutes to fully wake up and realize that the alarm was on "ascending" again... opened the app on my phone and it showed all of my alarms set in the off position (which should have been on) and yet the alarm is going. So after turning the alarms on that needed to be on, I went in to each and switched off "ascending" and saving each yet again. This is a horrible product. I would not wish this on anybody... Honestly I want my money back. Two months ago I would have been fine with trading out this device for a new one... now, I am over it.The audio quality is better than some alarm clock radios. However it is not that great of a speaker. It does sound alright and most people probably would not hear the difference or care about the difference in speaker quality. That has very little to do with my review, but it should be known for people that love high quality audio. To get the same results as this alarm SHOULD be able to handle:Buy an Echo DotBuy a powered (active) speaker (quality determined by you)Buy a 6port USB chargerPlug the output of the Dot into the speaker and you can set your alarms through Alexa App or by talking to the device.Maybe buy a power strip to plug all these devices into.Personally I have a Gen 1 Dot plugged into a Harmon Kardon Speaker which is AMAZING in comparison to the Doppler. This is a nicely made smart clock radio. It has Alexa built-in, it feels like it must have some substantial magnets in the speakers, leading me to believe they are indeed quality or at least a lot more effort into the woofers and such, and it looks nice. It has a lot of features listed and a lot work well but I really, really did not like the setup as it was a bit frustrating. For the MSRP on this, I would expect everything to go off without a proverbial "hitch" but I was mistaken. This is a cool smart clock radio with a significant and awesome number of USB charging ports but it is just a bit out of the range of acceptable value, in my humble opinion. That is just me, however, as this does have some good speakers and it does have Alexa,i it was just a pain for me to install and it is costly.Pros:Good sound quality6 USB charging portsSeems to be good speaker qualityClock functions wellAlexa includedCons:Setup was not fun, took a while (iPhone)Not a great valueHeavy/largePro:Bright display.Custom colors for clock digitsCons:1. No snooze button2. The only way to shut alarm off is through Alexa3. The default volume on the alarm is set to low. So you have to watch that.4. Weak microphone. Alexa doesn't hear you when music is playing. ex. when trying to shut off the alarm you have to shout at Alexa to get it to turn off (which may not work either)5. Whether setting alarm trough the Alexa app or the sandman app it sets the wrong time. I sent my alarm for 7:00 it sets it for 9:00 instead. The best way to set an alarm is through the routine in the Alexa app.6. Bulky it takes up a lot of room my night stand7. No port for the new iPhone charger.I ordered the sandman doppler clock and received it. The instructions are easy to read and the clock was easy to set-up. I enjoyed how I can change the brightness and change the colors of the clock and I get to choose many colors. I enjoyed the usb and I can charge my other devices from my clock. The quality of sound is really good and I enjoy that it is compatible with Alexa. The display is really large and easy to read and see. I definitely would recommend this clock to everyone. The company got me set up with there Beta version that add a endless combination of options from the Alexa platform that puts a personal touch on your unit. Great ProductDoes not connect to Alexa. Amazon app is telling me that Sandman's app is too buggy forcing Amazon to close and giving me a prompt to try again once Sandman implements a fix. This is the most piss poor issue I've faced for a $200 product. At that price range you'd think the product should be premium, this is just so poorly maintained. It is shameful to put out a product that does not function remotely to what is advertised. The biggest pull of this device is advertised as having so many features when connected to Alexa but bugs in the app won't even allow them to interact with each other. Shameful, just so very shameful; I am adamantly disappointed because of how excited I was to receive this.I cannot say enough how pleased I am with this product
