Johnny's brother made his first splash with this 1971 White Trash debut. His keyboard work is just stellar as he tosses blues, gospel, funk and R&B into rockin' tunes like his hit Keep Playin' That Rock 'n' Roll plus Dying to Live; Save the Planet, and more. Produced by Rick Derringer who is also a guitarist and vocalist on the album.
I missed both Winters' brothers in the 70s. They came out when I was living in Alabama and fixated on both Southern and Prog rock. So I heard of this CD/album on a Facebook page and thought I'd try it. I'm not used to paying over $40 for a used CD and would have preferred vinyl but that was more than twice as much. Furthermore, the CD itself was in fine condition but the jewel case is sprung, which sucks a lot since the CD does not fit in it. That being said, the top of my head blew off listening to this. I'm hooked. Wow, Jerry and Edgar could flat wail. Songs were well-composed and not a bad one in the bunch. I'm looking forward to many more listens to this CD. It's not going into the under five bin, meaning under five songs on the CD are any good, which means it's a dog. No way, this one is going into heavy rotation for years to come. I love it.
