To my surprise, this repair kit worked amazingly well. I carefully followed the instructions, everything fit and worked out well, and now rear speakers of my e36 produce good full sound. Foam material didn't feel to be any different from similar materials on average new speakers, so I expect it to last for awhile. This is a very inexpensive and simple DIY repair, that saved me from potentially huge hassle, as otherwise I would have to replace factory speakers with something else, and that could trigger a lot of additional investment.
