First, the most difficult part of this entire process was getting the speakers out of my car. I had to remove the entire door panel to get at them. It was a bit unnerving but it worked and I didn't break anything. Read and understand the directions before beginning the process. Removing and cleaning the old foam wasn't difficult, it just took time. I scraped off the old foam using the backside of a knife on the metal ring. On the actual speaker I just left the residual foam because I was scared of cutting or damaging the cone. Spolier alert: leaving the foam residue on the cone turned out just fine. I did use a solvent to clean the old glue off the metal ring. Again, I used no solvent on the cone. Glueing the new rings on was very easy. The rings fit my speakers perfectly. No trimming was required. It's a multi-step process so again, read and understand the directions. There was plenty of glue and it was easy to work with. After each step the glue needs to dry for about an hour. Don't rush this process. Do what they say. Just to be sure after I finished the entire process I let them sit overnight upside down. I installed them the next morning and the sound was perfect. No more blown out sound, scraping and demon noises. With the exception of the old foam rings, nothing went into the landfill. The speakers sound they like are new. I would do this again in a heartbeat. I couldn't be happier.
